Odoo Sales: How to Generate and Send Customer Quotations
Creating quotations is the first step toward turning prospects into paying customers. With Odoo Sales, this process becomes fast, simple, and fully digital. Whether you’re selling products, services, or subscriptions, Odoo makes it easy to create professional quotes and send them directly to your clients—all from a single dashboard.

Odoo Sales is not just about creating quotes—it helps automate workflows, track opportunities, convert quotes into sales orders, and manage communication seamlessly. With customizable templates, real-time status updates, and e-signature integration, your sales process becomes smarter and faster.
Step-by-Step Guide to Create and Send Quotations in Odoo
Step 1: Activate the Sales App
First things first—make sure the Sales app is installed and activated.

- Go to the Apps module.
- Search for Sales and click Install if not already installed.
Step 2: Create a New Quotation

- On the top menu, click Quotations.
- This will show all the existing quotations.
- Now, click the “New” button (top left) to create a new one.
Step 3: Add Customer Details


- In the Customer field, select the existing customer.
- If the customer is new, click “Create and Edit” to add their details instantly.
Step 4: Set Quotation Details

Fill out the essential fields like:
- Quotation Date: Automatically set to the current date, but you can edit it.
- Payment Terms: Choose from your predefined terms.
- Pricelist: Select the correct pricelist (optional).
- Expiration Date: Mention the validity of the quotation.
- Salesperson: The person responsible for the deal.
Step 5: Add Products

- Scroll down to the Order Lines section.
- Click “Add a Line”.
- Select the Product from the dropdown. (If needed, you can create a new product here.)
- Enter the Quantity.
- Odoo will automatically fetch the unit price, taxes, and subtotal.
- Save it manually.

Step 6: Customize and Preview

- Use the Customize button to:
- Go to:
- Sales > Configuration > Settings
- Apply a pre-designed template.
- Add a custom note or terms and conditions.
- Apply a pre-designed template.
- Click Preview to see how the quotation will look to your customer.

Step 7: Send the Quotation

- Once you’re satisfied, click Send by Email.
- Odoo will open a draft email with the PDF quotation attached.
- You can edit the email body if needed.
- Hit Send.
You can also send a quotation link with online signature and payment options (if configured).
Step 8: Track Quotation Status
After sending, Odoo will show the quotation status:
- Sent
- Signed
- Confirmed
- Expired
This helps you follow up at the right time without missing opportunities.
Bonus Tip:
- Use Quotation Templates to speed up repeated quote creation.
- Enable Online Signature and Online Payment from Settings to make it easier for customers to accept.
- Track the status of your quotations from the Kanban or List View in the Quotations menu.
